Destinations to visit between Manali to Leh road trip:
Rohtang Pass to Leh
This is the first stopover after starting the road trip from Manali and is worth a watch. We say this because the never ending road covered with clouds descended from the heavens look just out of this world. As you progress on the road and tear through the clouds, the ones left behind look as if you are on a journey towards the sky. Biking is pure bliss for you road rangers here, trust us! Rohtang also offers spectacular view of glaciers and snow laden mountains which makes the experience even more fulfilling.
Jispa to Leh
As Rohtang paves way for you to discover the Chandra River, Jispa is the place where you can actually sit and relax as you watch the clear waters of this river run past by. Jispa lies alongside river Chandra and is ornamented with lofty mountain peaks which make the place look majestic, small shallow brooks ideal for walking through and green carpeted ravines. All of these together make the place resemble a paradise that we often imagine in the loveliest of our dreams.
Baralacha La to Leh
This is a mountain pass which offers a gateway to both Lahaul and Ladakh district. Lying at a very high altitude of 4,890 metres, this pass is located in the mighty Zanskar range. Brown high-rise mountains covered with white snow on the sides of the road, give you a feel that you are travelling somewhere through the coldest place of the earth. An erstwhile trade route, this is now a national highway and the starting point of famous Suraj Tal trek explored by many mountain enthusiasts time and again. The pass remains covered with snow most of the time during the year and opens up for some months in summer for the purpose of travelling and trekking.
Gata Loops to Leh
As the name suggests, these are loops of roads, twisting, turning and winding around while standing at a high altitude. This is one place on the Manali to Leh route that is one of the perfect biking destinations due to its geographical setting. Crossing these loops is no less than a challenge because the terrain can actually be difficult to conquer.
Upshi to Leh
As you travel 425 kms from Manali, you reach a small village tucked besides the ancient Indus River called Upshi. This splendid hamlet is a place where you can unwind and relax after long hours of biking. The idyllic pleasure offered by it is unmatched as you can enjoy the exotic food and lovely weather together in the best combination.
